The Other 99 Patched For Tweaks And Deadlier Combat

The Other 99, a new survival game continues to forage its way to official release, finding feedback and exploring tweaks an improvements.

The Other 99 is a single player, first-person, action-survival game. Currently in Early Access, the game’s backstory rips players from their ordinary life and puts them on a desolate Hebridian island with nothing but a single note that reads, “The only way off the island is through The Other 99”.

For the geographically challenged, or those too lazy to head over to Wikipedia, the Hebrides are islands off the west coast of mainland Scotland and a perfect setting for a horror, fantasy survival type game. They have a long history of occupation dating back to the Mesolithic, and the culture of the residents has been affected by the successive influences of Celtic, Norse, and English-speaking peoples.

The game became available as Early Access as of August 2016 and with the help and feedback from the fans, developer Burning Arrow has now released a fresh update for The Other 99. This update introduces some highly anticipated features such as new AI routines have been set in place which should add more diversity and morality into the fight for survival.

A major selling point of The Other 99, its brutal combat system has also been improved to ramp up the intensity of player’s encounters on the island. As well as the ‘battle royale’ combat, the title also offers exploration, stealth mechanics and problem-solving, all set to an air of mystery and under a cloud of Permadeath.

It’s this last feature which promises to make the game replayable. When a player dies, the game saves are wiped and the traits of the other 99, the AI, is reset essentially making it a whole new game.

The game certainly looks great and it’s amazing to think such a small design team is responsible for The Other 99. Burning arrow was founded in June 2014 and the team is currently consists of 4 people.
